Here is an example of a small en-suite addition to a dwelling. It is a steel inspection for a slab. The drainage pipe from the toilet was right at the base of the slab. This is not good practice. Pipes should be within the slab with concrete and steel above and below it. Plus the vapour barrier should be below it.
There was no detail in the engineering plans about what to do here.
What did we do?
We required the vapour barrier under the slab and sought engineering certification for the pipe in that location.
