Does this mean when I assess an RIR, test report, or any other evidence of suitability I can only advise that it is either compliant or non compliant for the proposed project?
I find that people outside the construction industry have no idea what a performance solution is.
I also find that some large companies still do not think they need to get a performance solution when their product, system or material only meets the performance requirements of the NCC.
Is there a way to educate the masses on what a performance solution can be for? From, for instance, simple things like glass balustrades and water proofing materials to large scale fire tests?
I find if you look hard enough there are performance solutions required on most projects.
Feedback I receive from applicants is that I am being too difficult, as a certifier, because I cannot give them a solution to their non-DTS compliant product, system or material. I just have to say it does not comply.
What do you think about performance solutions and conflicts of interest?
