It is great to see that more products used in the construction industry are getting tested to verify that they actually comply with testing standards in order to fulfill promises on their packaging and literature.
However we are seeing a growing trend with companies getting their products ‘tested’ where the testing company only provides an opinion that the product ‘could’ comply ‘if’ it was tested in accordance with the testing standard.
Recently there has been a raft of ‘appraisals’ completed by testing companies to indicate that products meet the performance requirements of the BCA only and not the deemed to satisfy requirements and have been passed off as ‘compliant’ for use in every situation.
